The outcome of the annual Green Buildings Regatta on Thursday, 6 September 2024, in the picturesque town of Enkhuizen, kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Companies from the real estate sector gathered for a day full of sailing fun and networking, where the best teams competed against each other. After an intense battle on the water, the winners of the Green Buildings Regatta 2024 were finally announced.

The day began with a celebratory opening and fantastic news: Marit Bouwmeester, the world’s most successful sailor, is starting her own sailing academy. She excitedly shared: “Sailing has given me so much, but it’s an elite sport. I want to make sailing more accessible for children because everyone should be able to enjoy water sports!” The Municipality of The Hague, the Royal Dutch Sailing Federation, and CFP Green Buildings are supporting this dream, and Bram Adema, as host of the event, called on all attendees to contribute to this wonderful initiative.
After morning practice races, the Mayor of Enkhuizen, alongside Marit Bouwmeester, gave the official start signal for the regatta. The mayor expressed his pride: “It’s fantastic to host this event again in our city. Clearly, we did something right because you’ve all come back!” Marit encouraged the sailors with humour and enthusiasm, sharing a few valuable tips: “It’s not about participating, it’s about winning. It doesn’t need to be fun on board, it needs to be functional!” This brought laughter from the participants.
During lunch, Bram Adema surprised Marit with great news: “I’ve never raised money so quickly and easily, thanks to all the participants here!” With pride, he presented a cheque for €11,570 on behalf of all the regatta participants to Marit Bouwmeester for her sailing academy.
With 17 boats on the starting line and 206 sailors, the competition was fierce. Ideal weather conditions made for a perfect day on the water, with strong winds creating challenging races and even leading to a collision. However, this did not dampen the spirits.
The competition was tough, but Sodexo ultimately claimed victory. Their boat, Miesje, performed exceptionally well in all conditions. They were followed by CFP & Friends and ISS, who secured second and third places respectively. The winners of the Green Buildings Regatta 2024 displayed not only outstanding sailing skills but also remarkable teamwork.
Bram Adema concluded with: “Everyone sailed a serious race in serious conditions. This is thanks to your efforts and the experience and coaching of great skippers. Thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm today, and see you next year!”
The event was once again a great success, not only due to the sporting achievements but also because of the strong bonds forged within the real estate sector. The combination of sportsmanship, sustainability, and collaboration makes the Green Buildings Regatta an annual highlight for the industry.
