New DUMAVA 2025 round: Sports clubs now eligible

The Duurzaam Maatschappelijk Vastgoed (DUMAVA) subsidy will reopen in 2025 with a total budget of €405 million. This gives property owners and advisors of public real estate another opportunity to secure financial support for sustainability measures. A key update for 2025 is that sports clubs will now also be eligible for funding.

How does the scheme work?

DUMAVA is expected to open on 2 June 2025, with applications processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Given the high demand, early preparation is essential. The subsidy covers two approaches:

1. Individual sustainability measures (1, 2, or 3 measures)

  • Subsidy: 20% of project costs, including the mandatory tailored energy advice and EPC certification
  • Minimum: €5,000, Maximum: €1.5 million

2. Comprehensive sustainability projects (large-scale approach)

  • Subsidy: 30% of project costs (including tailored energy advice and EPC certification)
  • Minimum: €25,000, Maximum: €85 per m² per EPC improvement, up to €1.5 million
  • Additional 10% subsidy (up to 40%) if the project meets the renovation standard

A minimum of three EPC rating improvements is required for comprehensive projects

Which buildings qualify for DUMAVA?

DUMAVA is intended for the sustainability of public buildings, such as schools, government buildings, healthcare facilities, theatres, community centres, and associations. From 2025, sports clubs will also be included.

It is crucial to start preparing for a DUMAVA application in time and to fully understand the subsidy structure. For example, an energy assessment or tailored energy advice is mandatory. With the right approach, up to 40% of the costs can be covered! A well-prepared application takes time, so start early.”

From BOSA to DUMAVA: What does this mean for sports clubs?

In 2025, sports clubs can choose to fund their sustainability projects through either the BOSA scheme or the DUMAVA subsidy. While this flexibility is beneficial, there are some key considerations:

  • No double subsidies: If a club has already applied for BOSA funding for a specific project, it cannot apply for DUMAVA for the same project.
  • DUMAVA becomes the only option from 2026: The BOSA subsidy for sustainability will no longer be available in 2026, making DUMAVA the sole funding option.
  • Different eligible costs: While DUMAVA focuses on sustainability measures and comprehensive projects, BOSA covers a broader range of sports-related investments.

Sports clubs planning to improve their facilities’ energy efficiency should carefully assess which scheme best fits their needs. CFP Green Buildings can assist in evaluating options and securing the right subsidy.

How to prepare?

Proper preparation increases the chances of receiving funding. A tailored energy advice report is mandatory to determine which measures qualify for the subsidy. CFP Green Buildings can assist with this assessment, EPC certification, and the application process.

  • 19 May 2025: Applications can be pre-saved in mijnRVO.
  • 2 June 2025: Official opening of the subsidy scheme.
  • Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, so act fast!
