Looking back at 2022: what were the highlights?

Now that 2022 has come to an end, it’s time to take a look back. What did we achieve in 2022 and what can we look forward to in 2023?

Last year, we carried out the biggest certification project in the world. In collaboration with Vesteda, more than 28,000 apartments received BREEAM certification. In addition, the CFP Green Buildings Tool was applied for the first time to more than 1 million buildings in more than 20 countries.

In collaboration with Cushman & Wakefield, the global business case for sustainability was also calculated. A total of over USD 17 trillion needs to be invested in all the buildings and homes in 50 countries so as to get down to “Net Zero Carbon”.

Together with teams of property owners and clients of banks including ING Bank, ABN AMRO bank, Rabobank, HSBC and Lloyds Banking Group, we made a great many buildings more sustainable. In 2022, CFP achieved a total of more than 50,000 tonnes of additional annual CO2 savings.

With Sport NL Groen, Remeha, Rabobank, ABN AMRO, Essent, Sport Fryslân and Klimaatroute, we created the first end-to-end e-sustainability platforms. This resulted in more than a thousand scans and hundreds of requests for quotations. This is the start of fully automatic property sustainability action, so that scaling up to making 9 million buildings and homes sustainable has become just a matter of rolling out the platforms.

Finally, there were energy savings, circular developments and certifications of energy labels, BREEAM and WELL for Merin, Unifore, ASVZ, AMC, Van de Pol, Unica, and a.s.r., among others. We look forward to continued cooperation with our partners and clients.

In 2023, we will continue scaling up the sustainability of buildings and homes in the Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Australia, and 20 other countries within and beyond Europe. It’s the frontrunners who really drive the energy transition and sustainability. We are deeply grateful for your boldness and perseverance, and we stand shoulder to shoulder to face our generation’s biggest challenge together. That means energy-neutral buildings and homes that are healthy and sustainable, mitigating climate change, and preserving biodiversity.

On behalf of the CFP Green Buildings team,
Bram Adema
