During the Paris Proof Congress on 28 November in Hilversum, the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) and knowledge platform TVVL introduced five new WEii license holders, including CFP Green Buildings. As a WEii license holder, CFP assists property owners in gaining insights into the actual energy consumption of their buildings. This methodology supports the transition to future-proof property management and contributes to achieving Paris Proof performance.
WEii stands for ‘Werkelijke Energie-intensiteit Indicator’ (Actual Energy Intensity Indicator) and is a standardized methodology for measuring a building’s energy efficiency. It provides property owners and developers with an objective and reliable way to assess building performance and focus on sustainability and Paris Proof objectives.
WEii certificates offer property owners a dependable way to gain insights into their buildings’ performance and track progress in the transition towards Paris Proof. As a WEii license holder, CFP Green Buildings enables standardized measurement and reporting of actual energy performance. Martin Mooij, Programme Manager for Paris Proof at DGBC, highlights the importance of WEii certification:
“Due to reporting requirements such as the CSRD and the portfolio approach, more and more organizations need to report on their actual energy consumption and emissions. A WEii certificate issued by a licensed organization ensures that the score is established objectively and reliably.”
With WEii certification, CFP supports property owners in understanding their actual energy performance and achieving their sustainability goals.
Sustainable construction and management are no longer ambitions—they are necessities. Marnix Balke, Senior Consultant & Project Manager at CFP, states:
“With WEii certificates, we provide property owners and developers with a reliable way to make sustainable performance measurable and comparable. Together, we make Paris Proof attainable, scalable, and tangible for the real estate sector.”
The core of WEii—the measurement of actual energy performance in buildings—aligns with global efforts to accelerate the energy transition. Countries worldwide are striving to reduce carbon emissions, and a standardised approach like WEii can provide significant value.
Although WEii is specifically designed to meet Dutch Paris Proof targets and DGBC standards, it can be adapted to align with energy and sustainability frameworks in other countries, such as the EU Taxonomy, BREEAM International, LEED, and other certification schemes.
